full entry A week of goodbyes (Part 2) I'm back home, since one and a half weeks now, but I want this journal to complete at least, by telling how the rest of the leave-ran. was
Thursdays during lunch it a proper farewell party by the Language Department. With lots of candy and chips. We all crowded into my tiny room and placed a student to take a picture of us sardines.
The Department has given me a book about Robert Patt, a great chain and a bracelet (both in green, because the scientists as much as I like green) and given a card. Lizzy has something written on it in Russian, I have to take their word for it that actually "You'll be missed" means. At the point I almost cried but then. But only almost. Jamie has
from the 11 given me a card, a self-made Winnie Puh card. Some of the faculty thought it was a bit "dodgy" ... a Year 11 boy who designed a Winnie the Pooh card and send me his email address on it. But I found it sweet, I'll write to him. Finally, he is the only one who has written my name correctly :-)
I have worn quite like leftover sweets around: to Sue the Examination Office to the three ladies from the Finance Office, which I was so much Labour had made itself to Mrs. Whitaker, the secretary of the Head, and Head and Deputy Head and Headmaster shakes my hand, thinks I should come back and ask me how I liked it. I say: Very great, and tell me that I would do it again. And he asks: Whether because everything was so great. And then a little flame starts in my eyes and I think "Malcolm, he HAS asked." And it may just before I go, but to say that the thing with the move then did not was so sparkling. But I have remained polite. And as far as I can tell, I am only a very tiny bit turned sarcastic. Honest.
Fridays are Imène evening and I was invited to dinner by Claudia and Duncan. In a really nice pub. It was great, Claudia has told in her inimitable way, school and travel stories. I have not laughed so much in the week. And besides, I had another opportunity to confuse a bartender with my desire to get a shot of beer.
Saturday I was actually still on the roof of the cathedral, with Lizzy and Jon together. But that did not work out unfortunately, the tours were booked up too fast. In the evening we eat anyway, and then walk around the cathedral gone. We have even managed to get hold of an ice cream in the ice cream parlor where I wanted to eat all the time even one. They had actually already, but Margaret, who makes the Ghost Walk, and her husband are friends with the owner and have again put up for us. Lizzy, in its inimitable way, told right away that I to go home, which I then placed another hug from Margaret and her husband. (When I have a week later finally checked my mail, I think one of the two, with congratulations and that they will miss me;. That I was indeed once made once wistfully)
It was really bad, Lizzy Bye to say. I'll miss you most of all. Maybe, maybe we will be able even to visit them, that would be great.
the Sonnntag then I have all had for me. Melancholy and anticipation at the same time I'm through the city, the British have again the Vrozüge McDonalds and enjoyed the best of luck with Hannah, the redhead from the Twelve, met while working. Because not much was going on, we have then talked for half an hour, and then I have to take final farewell. It's nice to be missed is.
On Wednesday evening, when I came back home after the course, Harry was with us, because Mark had invited him to dinner. As Mark actually accessible for a whole company boils (I think that is so common in China), was also enough for me, and we still had a nice last week to three.
Mark was so kind and helped me Montg noon my not inconsiderable luggage, the Steep Hill down to the station to drag. I was really glad to have my winter coat no longer get in the suitcase, it was cold. While we are still waiting for the train, said Marki-Mark, as always called him Harry, to me, I should just write him an email with a wedding photo or something. Since I had to smile after all. I tried to explain to him why I will probably never get married (at least nciht as he would imagine), but I think he has not understood it. However, you never know with Mark for sure.
The trip back home went well, although I had to pay 20 pounds of excess baggage (for 4 pounds!), But that's still cheaper than by post. My luggage was transported completely, only my suitcase has then shot final. When I picked him from the baggage carousel, he was over it. But never mind, he has endured 8 flights, and when you see how to deal with cases, then that is a miracle in itself.
I will probably not fly first, so it was nice that I could get the flight again in one Fentsterplatz. At least I am now cured of my fear of flying.
at the airport then a wonderful surprise: Seven people are dressed with a sign "Home" available to me to make and receive. Since then all the sadness was gone for:
I'm home!
